Moris reprezante!

Seeing our beautiful island in Bollywood movies is not new, but “The Heist” is a milestone for Mauritius in the global film industry, featuring Nad Sham, the very first Mauritian lead in Bollywood. How cool is that?

The movie was shot 50% in Mauritius—notably at Le Morne, Caudan & Côte D’Or—adding a touch of our island’s charm to its thrilling storyline. Now playing at Star Cinemas Bagatelle, Caudan & La Croisette!

Nad Sham – A Name to Remember

Nad Sham, an alumnus of Collège Saint Esprit, took his dreams to London, where he pursued studies in law and eventually earned a master’s degree in finance and law.

A chance encounter with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in Juhu, Siddhant Kapoor, and his idol Jackie Chan in Hong Kong, opened the doors to Bollywood for Nad.

Meet the Mauritian Crew in ‘The Heist’

Our very own Nad Sham shares the screen with Suman Rao in the movie, who was crowned Femina Miss Rajasthan 2019, Femina Miss India 2019 and Miss World Asia 2019.

Nad not just acts, but sings and does his own stunts in ‘The Heist’! He speaks Hindi, English, and even throws in some French, showing off his incredible versatility.

Let’s not forget the familiar faces behind the scenes! We’ve got Ryan Jeeawock from Top FM and ex-model Haadiyah Heerah adding their charm to “The Heist.”

The Plot – What is ‘The Heist’ all about?

Star Cast: Nad Sham, Suman Rao, Siddhant Kapoor, Jagat Rawat & Tasneem Khan

Director: Aditya Awandhe

The story is a nail-biter: former FATF agent Ananya (played by Suman Rao) meets master con artist Neel (Nad Sham) on the Dark Web. They team up for a daring heist, targeting a billionaire fugitive’s dirty money and smuggling empire. It’s suspense, action, and drama rolled into one.

Soundtrack and Trends – Nad Sham sings Aaja Bairi!

One of the catchy songs from the movie, “Aaja Bairi”, was sung by the multi talented Nad Sham himself, alongside the famed Palak Muchhal (known for her songs in Aashiqui 2, MS Dhoni and Sanam Teri Kasam, to name a few).

The song is gaining popularity on TikTok, with fans recreating Nandini Gupta, Miss India 2024’s hook moves.

Star-Studded Premiere at Bagatelle & the Jio World Plaza in India

The movie had its grand premiere on July 25 at Star Cinema with Lady Sarojini in attendance, adding to the glitz and glamour. Nad Sham’s co-star, Miss India, even visited Mauritius for the premiere.

Vikram Jootun, the director of the Mauritius Film Development Corporation, celebrated Nad Sham’s incredible success in the film industry with a standing ovation.

In line with all the recent buzz around the Ambani wedding, ‘The Heist’ also had a splashy premiere at Nita Mukesh Ambani’s Jio World Plaza (India’s largest luxury mall) on July 17.

Posters are up at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, and the film is dazzling audiences in the UK, South Africa, USA and at the Dubai Mall Gala in November.
