We all enjoy a good horror movie once in a while. But Halloween is a special month, there’s a constant wish to be creeped out. Don’t worry, we have it all prepared for you. Here are six upcoming movies you should add to your list of horror movies to watch during the season of scares, to keep you in the mood.
1) Little Monsters
Cast: Lupita Nyong’o. Alexander England, Diesel la Torraca
Dave (Alexandar England) has decided to move on from a recent breakup. He seeks refuge in his nephew (Diesel La Torraca) by being present during school trips and spending a lot of time with him so he could get closer to one of his teachers, Miss Caroline (Lupita Nyong’o). Everything seems normal, at least until a zombie invasion breaks out that will threaten Dave’s plans. What he wasn’t anticipating was Teddy McGiggle, an obnoxious children’s television personality who shapes the excursion’s activities. What he was expecting even less was a zombie invasion, which unfolds after an experiment at a nearby military base goes awry. Armed only with the resourcefulness of kindergartners, Dave, Miss Caroline and Teddy must work together to keep the monsters at bay and carve a way out with their guts intact.
2) Zombieland: Double Tap
Cast: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin
A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
3) The Lighthouse
Cast: Robert Pattinson, Willem Dafoe
The Lighthouse is a 2019 black-and-white horror film directed and produced by Robert Eggers, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Max Eggers. It stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. The film chronicles the story of two lighthouse keepers as they are faced with solitude, but start to lose their sanity and become threatened by their worst nightmares.
4) Eli
(on Netflix: 18 October)
Cast: Charlie Shotwell, Sadie Sink, Lili Taylor
ELI is the story of a young boy plagued with an unknown, debilitating illness that requires him to live completely sealed off from the outside world. After exhausting every option, his parents put their trust — and his life — in the hands of a doctor whose experimental, cutting edge treatments may hold Eli’s last hope. As Eli undergoes the tremendously intense process that could potentially cure him, he begins to be haunted by experiences that make him question who he can trust.
5) Girl on the Third Floor
Cast: C.M. Punk, Trieste Kelly Dunn, Sarah Brooks
At the heart of the film is Don Koch (CM Punk), a man who is failing as a husband. For years he has skated by on charm and charisma, until it nearly landed him in jail. He now views fixing up an old house as a chance to make up for past mistakes. Meanwhile, his wife, Liz Koch, is concerned about the renovation timeline as they have a baby on the way. With all this pressure it’s no wonder Don responds to the flirtations of an attractive stranger. As Don tears the house apart, it begins to tear him apart as well, revealing the rot behind the drywall.
6) Doctor Sleep
Cast: Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Cliff Curtis
On highways across America, a tribe of people called The True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless-mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance (Ewan McGregor) knows, and tween Abra Stone learns, The True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the “steam” that children with the “shining” produced when they are slowly tortured to death.
