October has officially entered the spooky season, and Netflix seems to have understood the assignment.
Alongside its usual mix of series, documentaries and big-name films, the platform’s October lineup is packed with horror, from IT Chapter Two and Doctor Sleep to The Conjuring, Insidious and an entire Purge marathon.
Netflix has even been asking viewers one very important question: which horror movie actually scares you the most?
IT Chapter Two – Because Apparently Pennywise Wasn’t Finished
If clowns already make you uncomfortable, this probably is not going to help.
IT Chapter Two brings the Losers’ Club back to Derry as adults, 27 years after their first encounter with Pennywise.

The group thought they had left the nightmare behind, but when Pennywise returns, they are forced to confront both the creature and the memories they spent years trying to escape.
It is long, creepy and filled with exactly the kind of unsettling imagery you probably do not want in your head before going to sleep.
Doctor Sleep – The Shining Story Continues
Remember little Danny Torrance from The Shining? He is not little anymore.
Doctor Sleep follows an adult Dan Torrance, played by Ewan McGregor, who is still dealing with the trauma of what happened at the Overlook Hotel.

His supernatural abilities eventually connect him with a young girl who possesses the same mysterious “shining” power while a dangerous group begins hunting people just like them.
For anyone who prefers horror with atmosphere, supernatural tension and a connection to one of cinema’s most famous scary movies, this deserves a place on the list.
The Purge 1–5 – One Night Was Clearly Not Enough
Sometimes one horror movie is enough. Netflix apparently disagrees.
Five films from The Purge franchise arrive this month, meaning you could theoretically spend an entire evening watching people attempt to survive a fictional America where almost all crime becomes legal for one night every year.

Probably not the most relaxing movie marathon.
But for horror fans who like their scares mixed with action, chaos and social commentary, October just handed you several hours of viewing.
Halloween and Halloween Kills – Michael Myers Is Waiting
You cannot really talk about Halloween movie nights without Michael Myers eventually appearing.
Halloween (2018) brings Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode, decades after her first encounter with Michael Myers.

Then Halloween Kills picks up immediately afterwards because unsurprisingly getting rid of Michael Myers is never quite as easy as everyone hopes.
Two films. One masked killer. Very bad evening for everyone involved.
The Conjuring – Maybe Don’t Watch This One Alone
Netflix is saving some serious horror heavyweights for the end of the month.

The Conjuring follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they attempt to help a family experiencing increasingly disturbing supernatural events inside their farmhouse.
The story helped launch an entire horror universe and even if you already know what happens, some of those scenes still work frighteningly well.
The Nun – Suddenly That Dark Hallway Looks Suspicious
Also arriving on Netflix is The Nun.
Set within The Conjuring universe, the film sends a priest and a young novitiate to investigate the death of a nun at an isolated Romanian abbey. Obviously, things get considerably worse from there.

If religious horror, dark corridors and figures standing where they absolutely should not be standing are your thing, add this one to the Halloween list.
Annabelle Takes Over Halloween Week
Netflix is clearly leaning into The Conjuring universe at the end of October.
The Nun and Annabelle Comes Home arrive on October 28, followed by Annabelle and Annabelle: Creation on October 31.

That gives horror fans several ways to revisit the franchise from the origins of the creepy doll to the chaos that follows when Annabelle ends up inside the Warrens’ artefact room.
Basically, if creepy dolls are your weakness, Netflix has planned your Halloween for you.
Insidious 1–3 – Three Movies, Zero Peaceful Dreams
If The Conjuring and Annabelle somehow are not enough, Netflix is also bringing the first three Insidious films.

The franchise revolves around supernatural entities, astral projection and a realm known as The Further. Which is basically a place you would very much like to avoid visiting.
Watching all three back-to-back the night before Halloween? Brave.
Ouija and Ouija: Origin of Evil – Never Trust the Board
October brings both Ouija and Ouija: Origin of Evil.
And once again, horror movies teach us a valuable lesson that their characters consistently refuse to learn: Do not casually attempt to communicate with the dead.

The second film, Origin of Evil, takes the story back to the 1960s and explores what happened before the events of the original.
Ideal if supernatural possession is your preferred Halloween nightmare.
Our Halloween Netflix Picks
If the October catalogue feels slightly overwhelming, here is where we would start:
For classic supernatural horror: The Conjuring
For something seriously unsettling: IT Chapter Two
For a Halloween-night slasher: Halloween

For a full movie marathon: Insidious 1–3
For Stephen King fans: Doctor Sleep
For “why did I watch this before bed?” energy: The Nun
And if you want maximum commitment, start with The Conjuring, move into Insidious and finish Halloween night with Annabelle.
Sleep is optional.
So, Which One Actually Scares You the Most?
Netflix asked the question, and now we are asking it too.
Is it Pennywise waiting in the dark?
Michael Myers slowly walking towards someone who really should be running faster?
The Warrens investigating another haunted house?
Or that one doll you would absolutely refuse to keep anywhere near your bedroom?
October’s Netflix lineup gives horror fans plenty to choose from whether you want one scary movie before bed or an entire Halloween marathon.
So, which one are you brave enough to watch with the lights off?
