September is apparently not interested in giving us one genre at a time. Mirzapur is heading to cinemas, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are bringing the Owens sisters back, Resident Evil is starting over again, and Brad Pitt is trying to survive the Alaskan wilderness with a dog.
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan reuniting for Haiwaan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran stepping into a darker crime story, and Preity Zinta returning to the big screen in Vibe.

Mirzapur: The Movie – Bhaukaal Is Going Big Screen
If Mirzapur was one of those series everyone around you seemed to be talking about, this is the release to watch.
Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, with the world of Mirzapur making the jump from streaming to cinemas.
That alone should make this a strong pick for local audiences who already know the characters and now want to see all that chaos on a much bigger screen.
Practical Magic 2 – The Owens Sisters Are Back
Some films disappear after release. Others somehow stay in people’s comfort-movie rotation for decades. Practical Magic is definitely in the second category.
Nearly 30 years later, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as Sally and Gillian Owens, bringing the family’s magic, curses and complicated relationships back to the screen.
If you grew up watching the original — or discovered it later through streaming — this one has strong nostalgia-night potential.
Haiwaan – Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Together Again
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan were last seen together on the big screen in Tashan back in 2008. Now, nearly two decades later, they are teaming up again for Haiwaan, a darker thriller directed by Priyadarshan.
The plot is still being kept fairly quiet, which may actually work in its favour. If you would rather go into a thriller without already knowing half the story from the trailer, keep this one on the radar.
Resident Evil – Horror Night, Anyone?
The Resident Evil franchise is heading back to cinemas with a completely new story.
Directed by Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind Barbarian and Weapons, this version follows a medical courier whose routine job quickly turns into an outbreak survival nightmare.
In other words: very bad day for him, potentially very good cinema night for horror fans.
Daayra – Kareena Kapoor Khan Takes on a Darker Role
If you prefer your Bollywood films less colourful and more intense, Daayra could be the one.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the crime drama stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran in a story built around crime, justice and punishment.
This looks like the kind of film that may leave people discussing what happened on the drive home rather than simply forgetting it once the credits roll.
Vibe – Preity Zinta Is Back on the Big Screen
For a certain generation, just seeing Preity Zinta on a cinema poster is enough to bring back memories.
Veer-Zaara. Kal Ho Naa Ho. Dil Chahta Hai. That whole early-2000s Bollywood period when she seemed to be everywhere.
Now she is returning in Vibe, written and directed by Kunal Kemmu.
This time, however, there is no Zaara waiting across the border. The film follows two ordinary friends whose lives spiral into a much bigger adventure, mixing action and comedy along the way.
Heart of the Beast – Brad Pitt, a Dog and the Alaskan Wilderness
Sometimes the premise does most of the selling.
Brad Pitt plays a Special Forces officer stranded in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash, with only his combat dog alongside him.
Directed by David Ayer, Heart of the Beast follows former Special Forces soldier James Belmont and his dog Odin as they try to survive long enough to make it back to civilisation.
And yes, there is a very good chance a large part of the audience will spend the film worrying more about Odin than Brad Pitt.
The Vvaan – Something Different from Bollywood
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia lead The Vvaan, a fantasy adventure drawing from Indian folklore and mythology.
With forests, supernatural imagery and ancient legends forming part of the film’s identity, this one stands apart from September’s crime films and action releases..
